Sea Kayak & Eco-hike expedition – Full Day Guided

On this tour you get the chance to have both a terrestrial (land) and aquatic (water) Abel Tasman adventure!

The trip itinerary varies depending on weather conditions, wind direction and the state of the tide, but be assured that your guide will design the best experience possible to suit the conditions of the day and your preferences. There is flexibility around the length of the walk or the kayak component of your adventure, the direction of travel and whether you kayak or walk first, so options exist to make sure you have a great day!

You will explore the forests and beaches of the National Park on foot and by sea kayak.

Your day starts and finishes aboard our Sea Shuttle and begins with a scenic cruise, during which you’ll visit the famous Split Apple Rock.

This is a fantastic day in the park and suits people with a sense of adventure that really enjoy having a high level of ‘hands on’ experiences and enjoy great storytelling and environmental information.

Our guides will take you on a hike through the Abel Tasman National Park introducing you to the native flora and fauna within the forests and beaches of the park. They will tell stories of the local Maori who have been guardians of this landscape for centuries as well as the European arrival and creation of the National Park Itself. The walking track is well formed and maintained and generally suitable for people with a moderate level of fitness.

Prepare to paddle from one of the Abel Tasman’s lovely golden beaches, around rocky headlands and secluded bays, exploring the coastline, visiting a Fur Seal colony and possibly paddling into hidden lagoons if the tide allows. The Abel Tasman is a stunning stretch of coastline where you will get to see a blend of rugged granite and tumbling boulder headlands with soft golden sand beaches bordered by abundant forests.

After your hiking and sea kayaking experience you’ll be ready to relax aboard the Abel Tasman Sea Shuttle for a scenic cruise. Just sit back and let the experienced skippers take you along a stretch of beautiful beaches back to Kaiteriteri Beach.
